Fences and decks
set to survive a DMV winter.
A fence has one job: hold its line, season after season. A deck is a structure first and a living room second. LCR Exteriors builds both, with our own crews, HOA and permit help, and one honest, itemized price before we dig.

Fence & deck questions, answered.
Do I need a permit for a fence in Fairfax County?
Usually not. Most residential fences in Fairfax County need no building permit as long as they stay at or under 7 feet, including post caps and lattice. Zoning still limits height, typically 4 feet in a front yard and 7 feet in side and rear yards, and pool fences have their own barrier code. Cities and HOAs differ, so we confirm your exact rules at the free quote.
Wood, vinyl, or aluminum: which fence should I pick?
Wood gives you the classic look at the friendliest price and is easy to repair. Vinyl costs more up front but never needs paint or stain. Aluminum is the most durable and the standard for pool enclosures and open views. We'll walk all three against your yard, your HOA's rules, and your budget.
Will you handle my HOA's approval?
We prepare what the packet needs: style spec sheets, material samples, and a simple site drawing showing the fence line. Then we build to the approved spec. Most NoVA HOAs approve standard styles quickly when the paperwork is right the first time.
Can you finance a fence or deck project?
Yes. Financing is available on fence and deck projects, with promotional options for qualified buyers. We'll lay out the monthly alongside the cash price in your itemized quote so you can compare honestly. See our financing options.
Do I need a permit to build a deck in Fairfax County?
Almost always yes. Fairfax County requires a building permit for any deck attached to the house, most elevated decks (over 30 inches above grade), and larger freestanding decks. That's a good thing: it means footings, ledger, and framing get inspected. We handle the drawings, the filing, and the inspection visits as part of the job.
How long does a deck build take?
Once the permit is approved, most residential decks are framed, decked, and railed within days, not weeks. Weather and inspections set the pace. You'll get an honest schedule in your quote and a heads-up before every work day.
