The roof you install once.
Standing-seam panels run from ridge to eave in one piece and lock together at raised seams, with every fastener hidden underneath. No screws through the face to back out, rust and leak. That's the difference between a metal roof that lasts and one that doesn't.
Concealed fasteners, floating clips
Panels attach with clips that let the metal expand in July and contract in January without stressing a seam. Exposed-fastener panels put a grid of screws and rubber washers through the face, and every one of those is a future leak.

Snow, wind & limbs
Snow slides instead of sitting, which is why snow guards above doors and walks are worth talking through. Interlocked seams hold in the gusts that peel shingles off in a Northern Virginia thunderstorm. A falling limb dents a panel; it rarely gets through.

Decades past asphalt
A standing-seam roof routinely outlasts the asphalt roof next door by decades, with less maintenance along the way. The full comparison is in the guides below.

What it costs, and why people pay it.
A standing-seam roof costs more than architectural shingles on install day. We won't put a figure here, because gauge, panel profile, roof cut-up and tear-off all move it. What we will say: if you plan to stay in the house, metal is usually the cheaper roof over the years you own it. If you plan to sell soon, asphalt is the cheaper check to write.
What moves the price
- ·Metal and gauge. Steel or aluminum; thicker panels cost more and dent less
- ·Panel profile and seam height
- ·Cut-up. Hips, valleys, dormers, chimneys and skylights all mean hand-fitted flashing
- ·Tear-off. We remove the old shingles and inspect the decking first, every time
- ·Finish. Factory-applied paint in dozens of colors; we bring the HOA sample
Solar-ready, by design
Standing seams take clamp-on rail mounts, so a solar array attaches with zero roof penetrations. If solar is anywhere in your plans, this is the roof to put under it, and because the roof outlasts the panels you won't be pulling an array off to re-roof.
Colors: charcoal, dark bronze, slate grey, forest green, matte black and bare metallic are what we're asked for most. Samples come to the inspection.
Every metal roof can be paired with 0% financing for up to 24 months. After your deposit, there's no further payment until the job is done and you're satisfied.
Three steps. No runaround.

We measure, check the decking and the attic ventilation, and bring color samples. We also talk through snow guards and gutters, which get sized for a metal roof.

Install
Full tear-off, new underlayment, then panels and hand-fitted trim. A metal roof takes longer than a one-day shingle job; your quote says how long.
"The LCR crew said my roof didn't have to be replaced yet, but still gave me a quote. It was lower than the four others I'd received."

Falls Church and Fairfax are home base. Standing seam shows up most on McLean and Vienna homes, on farmhouse-style new builds further out, and on anyone's house once a neighbor has one.
Metal roof questions, answered.
How long does a metal roof last?
Decades beyond an asphalt roof, and the finish usually gives out before the panel does. Gauge, the paint system and how the flashings were done set the number more than the metal itself. We put the warranty terms in the quote so you can compare them line by line. See how long does a metal roof last.
Is it loud in the rain, or hotter in summer?
Over a vented attic with normal insulation, rain on standing seam sounds like rain on any roof. Heat goes the other way: a light or reflective finish bounces summer sun that asphalt soaks up. See does a metal roof make your house hotter.
Can you install metal over my existing shingles?
Some codes allow metal over a single layer of shingles. We don't do it. A full tear-off is how we see the decking, fix what's soft and put ice-and-water shield where it belongs. A layover also traps moisture between two roofs, which is the slow way to ruin a fast roof.
What about snow sliding off?
It will, and that's a feature until it lands on the front steps. Snow guards above entries and walkways, and gutters hung on brackets built for the load, are part of the quote conversation. Overhang and drip-edge details are in our metal roof overhang guide.
