The first hour

What to do before we get there.

In order. None of it needs a ladder.

01

Get the water into a bucket

Move furniture and rugs out from under the drip. If the ceiling is bulging, push a screwdriver through the low point into a bucket so the water comes down in one place instead of across the drywall. Kill the power to that room if water is near a fixture.

02

Photograph everything

Ceilings, floors, the attic if you can reach it safely, and the roof from the yard. Your phone stamps the time. Don't climb onto the roof, and don't throw out wet drywall or carpet until it's been photographed.

03

Call 703-595-7031

Tell us what happened and where the water is. We'll tell you whether we're coming tonight or at first light, and what to do in the meantime.

04

Don't sign on the porch

After a big storm, out-of-town crews knock doors. Nothing you sign tonight gets the roof fixed faster. You have time to get a written quote from someone with a local office.

"A storm hit our building's roof. I called the LCR team and they got it done fast. Punctual and professional."

Before you call

What we need from you, and what you get back.

The call takes a couple of minutes if you have these ready. Everything on the right is yours to keep, whether or not you file a claim.

Have ready on the call

  • ·The address and the best number to reach you tonight
  • ·What happened and when: wind, tree, ice, or a leak that just started
  • ·Where the water is showing inside and whether it's near wiring
  • ·Whether anyone is hurt or anything structural looks unsafe
  • ·Access: locked gates, dogs, somewhere for the truck

Insurance documentation, done right

  • ·Dated photos before the tarp goes on and after the permanent repair
  • ·A written description of the damage and what caused it
  • ·An invoice for the emergency work. Many policies cover reasonable steps taken to prevent further damage, so keep every receipt
  • ·We meet your adjuster on the roof so they see what we saw

The claim decision stays between you and your insurer. We don't file claims, waive deductibles or promise approval. See roof insurance claims.

Where we answer at night

Two offices. One number, any hour.

Trucks roll from Falls Church and Fairfax, so most of Northern Virginia is a short drive even at midnight.

Answers before you call

Emergency questions, answered.

How fast can you get here?

Storm emergencies are answered 24/7. If water is actively coming in and it's safe to be on the roof, we aim for the same day. After a regional storm we triage: active water first, then openings, then everything else. We tell you where you stand on the first call.

Can you tarp in the rain?

Usually, yes. Rain alone doesn't stop us; lightning and high wind do, because nobody should be on a wet roof in either. If we have to wait, we'll tell you what to do inside until it passes.

Will the tarp damage my roof?

Fastening it properly means a few small holes, so yes. They land in the area that's being repaired anyway and get fixed with it. A tarp that isn't nailed down blows off in the next storm, which does far more damage.

Should I call you or my insurer first?

Stop the water first, then photograph, then call your insurer. Most policies expect you to take reasonable steps to prevent further damage, so tarping before the adjuster arrives is normal. Keep the receipt and the photos. If you'd rather talk it through, call us and we'll walk you through what your adjuster will want to see.
